In the Northern Zone semi final between Forster Tuncurry and defending champions Castle Hill a close battle ensued all throughout the day at the well groomed Maitland Golf Course. Castle Hill took an early lead after 9 holes leading 4 matches to 2 with 2 square. Not to be denied their opponents rallied and by the 12th the boys from the lower Mid North Coast led 4-1 with 3 square. They hung onto their lead to defeat Castle Hill 5 matches to 3.
The other semi final saw Waratah defeat Pacific Dunes at Kooindah Waters 5 matches to 3.
This means that Waratah will meet Forster Tuncurry in the Northern Zone final to be held at Pacific Dunes on Monday 23rd September commencing at 10.30.
Our thanks go to the Maitland and Kooindah Waters clubs for the use of their courses, both of which were complemented by the teams that played on them in regard to their presentation.
In the Southern Zone semi finals the following results were achieved. Port Kembla took on the strong Monash team at the Cronulla golf course. The Monash team proved far too strong ending up winners 6 matches to 2.
At Beverley Park golf course Bankstown played Cronulla in the other semi final, with Bankstown proving the victor 5.5 matches to 2.5.
The Southern Zone final between Monash and Bankstown will take place at the Castle Hill Country Club on Monday 23rd September commencing at 12 noon.
Once again we would like to thank the Clubs that offered their courses for hosting the semifinals. Without their generosity the Pennant would struggle to continue the format of the Pennant.
The winners of the two Zone finals will enter into the Grand Final to be played on Monday 30th September at a course and time to be announced after the semifinals have been completed.
