Report on the 13th Super Senior Championship

Upon my arrival at Stonecutters Ridge G.C. on Monday 6th May the weather was appalling at 6.30am. Things did not look good at this point. Those players who were keen for a game at this great golf course, by 7.45 am the faint sounds of Willie Nelson singing "Blue Skies" could be heard from far away. Thanks to his efforts, by tee time of 8.30 the rain had stopped and Willie had played his part for the day!

The course was wet, however local rules for the day included preferred lies through the green, all bunkers were not in play and carts were allowed. 114 brave souls then faced the starter for the 13th Super Senior Championship. Considering the conditions time taken for the 18 holes came down to four and a half hours which was most pleasing.

Lunch was starting to be served from 1.30 onwards then a guest speaker from the ICON Centre at Norwest Private Hospital, Dr. Johnson Lam addressed the audience with an informative talk on skin cancer.

Following the talk presentations began. Winner of the best scratch score on the day with 36 points was Terry Small from the Kogarah Golf Club. Winner of the best Nett score was Kevin Sutherland with 39 points from the Gosford Golf Club. This makes Gosford providing the winner of the Nett event for the past 2 years. Four divisions of scratch and Nett were then announced as well as the NTP's. Drew Simonsen was awarded the $100 prize for his effort on the par 3 17th Hole. The result sheet of prize winners can be found on our website under RESULTS. The day finished at 3.05.

The Association would like to thank the following clubs for their generous donation of a game of golf to be given out as prizes on the day. They were:

Castle Hill Country Club

Liverpool Golf Club

Kiama Golf Club

Carnarvon Golf Club

Asquith Golf Club

Shortland Waters Golf Club

We would also like to acknowledge our three major sponsors who are:

Golf NSW

ICON Cancer Centre

Drummond Golf

Many thanks must go to the General Manager ,Events Manager and Green Staff at Stonecutters Ridge for their assistance on the day. Despite the early foul weather it appears that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. A date for 2025 has yet to be decided. Past winners of the Championship are now on the website . Go to ABOUT US and click on

Previous Winners.

In the next week we will be contacting all players with a survey which will ask you for your constructive comments as to how we can improve the 2025 Championship. Please note that MY Score cannot be used on the day as it cannot sort the age divisions we need to establish with the results.

Jus another reminder that Team Nomination Forms for the Pennant must be in the hands of the Captain by Monday 20th May. It must be a WORD document. We seek your co-operation. Copies of the form are under FORMS on our website.
